POSITION SUMMARY

The Controller will be a core member of the Executive team. The Controller will help oversee the daily accounting and financial operations for the business. The ideal candidate will be able to manage the prioritization of deliverables, spanning various topics and processes, and have direct ownership as a subject matter expert for certain transaction cycles and accounting policy application. This position will be the head finance/accounting person for the company.

LOCATION: Position is expected to be in office, but there is some remote work flexibility

PAY: Based off of experience

 KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Create and lead the functional department of Finance/Accounting in a high growth Solar environment
• Manage the month-end close process for the company
• Manage the execution of revenue recognition in compliance with US GAAP inclusive of multiple-element arrangements, percent of completion and deferred revenue
• Manage the payroll and commission payment process
• Manage the day-to-day accounting operations and resources within, AR, AP, GL, etc.
• Ensure annual & quarterly reviews are complete (financial statement & other)
• Manage recording of equity transactions within the ledger
• Manage the Account Reconciliation process for the company for key accounts (Deferred Revenue (cash Advances), Prepaids and Accounts Receivable
• Maintain and adhere to accounting policies improving where needed
• Review/Approve general ledger entries
• Review/Approve financial impact of payroll entries
• Prepare financial statements in accordance with US GAAP
• Lead the process on various projects including Treasury, Tax and FP&A operations
• Develop and report key Performance indicators (KPI’s) associated with the business
• Maintain a 13 week Cash flow forecast identifying gaps or issues
• Provide strategy discussions and options on matters that involve finance and Accounting
• Ad hoc projects

IDEAL EXPERIENCE

• 5 to 7 years’ experience in a high-growth company (preferably service oriented)
• Bachelor of Science, Accounting or Finance (CPA, MBA, not required)
• 2 years experience managing staff (hiring, coaching, reviews, terminations)
• Working experience in accounting guidance including multiple-element arrangements, lease accounting and revenue-based compensation/Commissions
• Systems implementation experience preferred (QBO, NetSuite, Workday, SFDC)
• Advanced/Expert Microsoft Excel skills (v-lookup, pivot tables, file hygiene & organization, etc.)
• Creating Power BI and Dashboards for reporting
• Public Accounting/Audit experience is a plus, but not required
• KEY RELATIONSHIPS: Liaise with CEO, CSO, COO and other department heads
